Mapping recent Philippine storms


The Philippines already recorded more cyclones this year than in 2023 with typhoon Leon still in the Philippine area of responsibility as of Oct. 29.
That said, the number of cyclones to be recorded this year is likely to remain below the typical 20 or so recorded in a year. Based on available data from the National Institute of Informatics in Japan, we map out the cyclones that hit or traversed through the Philippines since 2021. Below are maps with each line on each map representing a cyclone and its path.
